It is estimated that heart attacks, strokes, and cancer account for 59 percent of all deaths in America. Significant progress has been achieved in reducing the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and cancer and we can benefit greatly from what has been learned to date.
Simply speaking, heart attacks usually result from some material or clot blocking the blood flow in our heart, or blocking blood flow in the arteries around our heart.
Strokes are similar to heart attacks, except that strokes occur in the blood vessels of our brain instead of in or around our heart.

Insufficient vitamin C results in the deterioration of the blood vessels, such as our arteries, which develop "leaks" in their walls. Our body's defenses rush in and "patch" the inside of these walls to "plug" the leaks. If this continues for an extended period of time, so much patch material accumulates that a partial or total blockage of our blood vessel occurs, resulting in a heart attack or stroke. With adequate amounts of vitamin C, deterioration of our blood vessel structure and resultant patching ceases, thereby helping to reduce our risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Once this deterioration is halted by vitamin C, we are still at risk for heart attacks and strokes due to the past accumulation of patch material already present in our blood vessels. Avoiding "bad" foods and exercising may certainly dislodge some of this patching material, but specifically designed formulations may reduce or eliminate the viscosity that binds the patch material together. With diminished viscosity, this patch material may disintegrate, disengage from the wall, and be carried out of our system via the blood stream.
