It's rather humorous to read some of the many articles where doctors claim that health care in the US is the best in the world.  Many people believe this lie -- and it is a lie.

When they write about this doctors often are critical of part of the system, while bragging about other parts.  This example is quoted from another page on this web site.

The United States is among the two or three most medically advanced nations in the world. Yet the average life expectancy here isn't even in the top 10 of the developing nations.

Sometimes you see claims that the life expectancy in America is higher than ever -- as proof that modern medicine is doing a good job.  Here is a comment from another page on this web site:

Thus, more people lived longer in 1950 than they did in 1850, but if a person got to the age of 60 the chances of living longer at that age were better in 1850 than they were in 1950.
